i think in 3 or so years after our radio and free map update warranty expires it might be worth looking at for me. for right now, i don't want to mess with the bose system. besides, so many things are integrated into the Head unit such as HUD, lightening, camera, door locks, wipers, etc. The problem with upgrading the bose system is that you have the head unit and amp under the seat. It could be either one giving you the problems. If its the amp and you want to keep the head unit then you need a digital line amplifier from JL Audio or the like and a wiring diagram to figure out which are the inputs and outputs. I got this installed by crutch field, but I do know the PAC device goes between the aftermarket head unit and the Bose amp. I am guessing the signal sent from the Pioneer NEX is amped MOSFET 50 W x 4 I believe without the PAC device I wouldn't be able to connect the aftermarket head unit to the bose amp..
